About BASI and Learn From the Leaders

BASI, short for “Body Arts and Science International” was founded by world-renowned Pilates teacher, Rael Isacowitz in 1989, headquartered in Newport Beach, CA. BASI Pilates has been providing the highest caliber of Pilates teacher training education all over the world for 30 years. BASI Pilates debuted the first annual BASI Learn From the Leaders (LFTL) conference in Australia in 1992. Since then, Learn From the Leaders has been held in South Africa, Germany, and the United States, with South Korea scheduled to hold its first LFTL in 2021.

BASI Learn From the Leaders is open to everyone in the Pilates community. It not only features top industry presenters, hands-on education, interactive workshops, and exciting social events, it also acts as a hub for Pilates professionals and enthusiasts to come together in celebration of this thriving community.

BASI Learn From The Leaders (LFTL) 2019

We are thrilled to announce that LFTL 2019 will be held right in BASI’s backyard at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach, CA. This exciting 2-day conference will feature several Pilates education workshops from highly sought after industry professionals, festive social gatherings, and a spectacular evening celebration and reception the first night of the conference. Our theme this year is “The Art and Science of Teaching Pilates.” In addition to highlighting this theme throughout the conference, we will also be celebrating 30 years of BASI as a top-tier, international Pilates education company. This year, we restructured "BASI Learn From The Leaders" which will support our renowned brand BASI and create a bigger impact on the world of Pilates.

A Country Divided, A Community Divided
29 Oct

Whatever side of the political spectrum you sit, no one can deny the “tribalism” that exists in America today. We have been forced to take sides and have been driven to the extremes of those sides. It is with sadness that I observe that the Pilates community is a microcosm of the tribalism we see in politics.
